The signing of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan presupposes a number of conditions, Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan told reporters on Thursday.
"We need to find a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in order to sign this treaty,” he said.
According to Grigoryan, there are many other issues, such as the unblocking of communications, delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The Security Council chief is convinced that the settlement of all these issues will help lay the foundations for a peace treaty.
He underscored that the Armenian side will continue to work toward a comprehensive peace treaty.
In response to a question about Armenia's position on the status of Artsakh in future negotiations, Grigoryan noted that “there must not be any restrictions on the status of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.”
“We need to find a solution to the conflict through negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, without any status restrictions,” he said.
